It’s always interesting to watch big ideas start to take hold.  In my business, big ideas get tossed around all the time.  We don’t always act on them, but when a good one gets developed, we run with it.

Enter spring 2009.  Marty Vanags, Mark DeKeersgieter, Scott Arnold and I got the idea that the world needed another social media conference.  As we thought about the conference structure, one idea kept coming up: what does all of this social media mean for businesses?

And from that idea, @MidWest was born.  Providing tools, tip and techniques for a practical approach to social media is what we hope to accomplish with the conference.  We are very fortunate to have speakers that are committed to social media in a real-world, practical sense sharing ideas with you.

Then there is the networking associated with a conference such as this.  While our goal is to give you a forum to learn practical applications of social media, meeting your peers is another benefit to attending.  Social media is about connecting, sharing and collaborating, which is human nature.   Who knows who you will meet?  Isn’t that part of the fun of it?

We all have a need to learn and connect so why not do so at @Midwest? We’d love to have you!

Here in the midwest, we don't talk about social media, we put it to practical use. Check out all the ways we walk the talk on Flickr.
