@Midwest on Hiatus

Since 2011, @Midwest has brought people and resources together to develop social media connections and relationships through annual conferences, social learning events, interactive practical resources and tools, and by providing mentorship, coaching, and advisement. The last four years have been an incredible journey with conference attendance growing from 84 to over 400.

Thank you to all attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers who contributed to @Midwest becoming the premier social media conference in the Midwest. The Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to put @Midwest on hiatus for 2015. During this time, we will explore alternative options for the future of the conference.

If you have any questions concerning @Midwest please contact me directly.

Thank you!

How an Ice Bucket Is Changing My Vocabulary

I just sat down with my daughter and explained to her that if she is going to put a video of her friends dumping ice water on themselves in the backyard, after she dries off, she can tell me where to send a donation.

Just because a social network exists doesn’t mean you need to use it

Social media, when used correctly, can be a valuable resource to a business of any size and shape. Social media helps you reach a very targeted audience each and every time. The obvious platforms like Facebook and Twitter have a very large overall database of people and with the right tools and strategy can prove to be very effective.

Have you ever received or seen one of these type of reviews online? If it has happened to your business, you know the hair-raising feeling of both dread and frustration of seeing it. It’s even worse if you didn’t realize it was online for months before you even saw it.

Stop Marketing Online Like a Child

Imagine you are having an important conversation with someone, when suddenly a small child starts shouting, “Daddy……..Daddy……….Daddy……..Daddy.” If you are a parent, you know exactly what I’m talking about out. If not, take my word for it or go babysit soon.
